Hotels in winter resorts are at least 15% more expensive
From December 17-18 to Christmas, 80% of Georgian mountain resorts are booked.
As Maya Murachashvili, the founder of the "Strategic Management Group of Hotels" said on Radio "Kommersant", the season will open on December 21, and the expectation that there would be no snow, luckily, did not come true and the hotels are fully ready for the season.
"From December 17, 18 to Christmas, 80% of hotels are already booked, among them, reservations are quite active in Gudauri as well. After Christmas, there are fewer vacationers, and in general, this is characteristic of a winter resort. It is not a vacation that depends on mass tourism, it is more individual vacation, mostly they follow the snow. Last year, for example, occupancy was 90%," Maya Murachashvili explains.
As for prices, Maya Murachashvili says that the increase in hotels is at least 15%, although food is more expensive.
"When the price generator becomes more expensive for us, the price also increases. We are in a very competitive environment in terms of salaries. We have an active human resource and in this direction we compete with each other on salaries. The second is the price of food products - it increases catastrophically every year. In winter, we consume a lot of gas and electricity. In addition, the maintenance of employees is related to certain expenses, and accordingly, our prices also increase", said Maya Murachashvili.
Maya Murachashvili points out that there is a way to increase the price even more in the part of Gudauri hotels due to the fact that the prices in mountain and ski resorts, for example, in Bulgaria and Turkey, are quite high.
"Gudauri really has a competitive advantage in terms of international travelers. Our compatriots are sometimes saddened and I understand this concern, Gudauri has become expensive for the Georgian population. However, there is a solution - apartments that will satisfy people with all budgets. Besides, as far as I know, Bakuriani does not have such an increase in prices," he notes. Maya Murachashvili.
