In Italy, a tourist tax will also be imposed on dogs

Starting next year, the Italian city of Bolzano will charge a daily fee not only to tourists, but also to the dogs that travel with them. The fee will be 1.50 euros - "Europulse" writes about this.

City officials explain their decision by saying that many visitors don't clean up after their pets. The tax collected will be used to clean the streets and create special walking areas for dogs.

The opinion of the city residents was divided regarding the tax. Some consider it reasonable and expedient, others think that the tax might scare away tourists.

Animal rights defenders also categorically protested this decision. According to them, animals are not a luxury, but an integral part of the family.
