"In recent years, 614 hotel projects have been supported"

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili spoke about the importance of diversification of the planned works and destinations for the purpose of development of the industry at the meeting held with the representatives of the tourism industry. The meeting was co-organized by the Georgian Business Association.

Irakli Nadareishvili drew attention to those sectors of the economy that affect the dynamics of tourism growth, including the aviation sector. The deputy minister also made a special emphasis on the importance of the "Make in Georgia" business support programs in the process of tourism growth.

"In Georgia today, more than 70 airlines operate in more than 120 direct destinations around the world, which contributes to the development of tourism. It is also important to support business, for which we are actively working - 614 hotel projects have been supported by the "Make in Georgia" programs in recent years, which is a supported portfolio of 1.3 billion GEL investment. Also 270 restaurant facilities, which is an investment of approximately 250 million GEL", Irakli Nadareishvili noted.

In addition, according to the Deputy Minister's assessment, the micro-entrepreneurship support program started in 2024, which includes loans up to 50,000 GEL - at a fixed rate of 8.5% and for a number of groups at a 0% rate, has an important role in the development of the sector. According to Irakli Nadareishvili, about 70% of the portfolio is in the direction of tourism, within a year and two months after the start of the program, 671 accommodation facilities were financed within the program and more than 200 restaurant facilities. 

Another issue that Irakli Nadareishvili focused on is the compatibility of local delivery services with the growth of tourist flows - both quantitatively and qualitatively, including attracting high-spending tourists.

"Our goal is to put even more emphasis on the development and support of local businesses and services in the tourism sector.
