Small wineries help preserve regional varieties

The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili, together with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Sulkhan Tamazashvili, the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Denis Salukvadze and the members of the Parliament of Georgia, visited the village of Makhuntseti, Kedi Municipality, where he visited the beneficiary company of the Rural Development Agency "Brothers Avalianibeni Marani". According to Davit Songhulashvili, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture continues to develop agro-production infrastructure in the regions in order to promote the strengthening of local production and sustainable development of the economy.

That is why it is distinguished by a unique variety of grapes; more than 500 varieties of grapes are spread in Georgia, which are called It is present in almost every corner of the country. It is precisely because of the variety of grape varieties that the development of small wineries is especially important, because they preserve the uniqueness and peculiarity that characterizes Georgian wine and viticulture. Small wineries contribute to the preservation and development of regional varieties, which ensures the diversity of Georgian wine. For this purpose, our programs actively support small wineries in order to preserve the centuries-old tradition that has reached the present day, to improve its quality and to introduce Georgian wine to the world," said Davit Songhulashvili.

The Avaliani Brothers Winery was created within the framework of the "Processing and Storage Enterprises Co-financing Program", the company also benefits from state programs - "Technical Support Program" and "Preferential Agrocredit". At this stage, the enterprise produces 10 types of wine, which are sold in the local market under the brand name "Avaliani Brothers".
