New protected areas will be created in Kakheti

Another working meeting was held regarding the creation of new protected areas in the Kakheti region.

The meeting was attended by local self-government representatives who received detailed information about the goals and benefits of the planned initiative. Information about this is provided by the Agency of Protected Areas. 

The establishment of new protected areas in the municipalities of Gurjaani, Telavi and Sagarejo in the Kakheti region is planned on an area of ​​approximately 40,374 hectares.

The creation of protected areas in the Kakheti region will significantly strengthen the network of protected areas and contribute to the protection of natural ecosystems.

It should be noted that the creation of protected areas significantly contributes to the improvement of the ecological situation in the region, the development of ecotourism and its promotion at the international level.

Along with this, the local population is given new opportunities for additional economic benefits and employment.
