"Our reservation for 21 people was canceled. When the tunnel was closed, they were afraid and did not come again", Natia Natsarashvili, the owner of Hotel Mountain Mestia, told "Business Press News" about this.

According to him, at the moment the roads are cleared, but tourists refrain from coming to Mestia.

"People got scared and our 21-person armor was canceled. When the tunnel was closed, they got scared and didn't go any further, because the avalanche was down. However, nobody really left these people unattended. We can't stand up to natural events, such things happen. They paid as much attention as possible, and as soon as they could, they opened the way and took them out.

In the case of my hotel, on New Year's, 4 room guests were left on the road due to an avalanche and could not come in that night. My reservation for 21 people to enter on January 5 has already been cancelled. Unfortunately, these reservations were not postponed either, because as you know, the holidays were announced until January 7 and they were going to arrive during that period. Therefore, because there was a problem on the roads, they changed their mind. There were many hotels in the same situation, otherwise we were fully prepared to accommodate. The road was opened from the second day, but still many people refrained from leaving.

In terms of electricity supply, we have not created a problem, we also have a generator. It went out only a few times, that too due to natural conditions. Now, as far as I know, there is no place without electricity in Mestia itself, although there was a problem in the villages, I have no information about whether it was solved or not," says Natia Natsarashvili.

As for bookings during the season, according to him, the workload was better than last year.

"Last year we worked until January 14, this year we only have reservations until January 8. Then we are already waiting for vacationers in February, because the World Championship is taking place. I think the lack of reservations is due to the fact that the snow did not fall on time and the ski slopes were not opened," - says the owner of Hotel Mountain Mestia

According to Natia Natsarashvili, this year Mestia is mostly visited by local, Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian visitors.

I will remind you , that on December 31, an avalanche occurred on the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdil highway sections, therefore, all types of vehicle traffic were prohibited. Due to the avalanche, the citizens got stuck in the tunnel, and they managed to get out on January 1.
