Air China starts air traffic between Tbilisi and Beijing
The largest Chinese airline Air China starts regular air traffic between the capitals of Georgia and China. According to the application submitted to the Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the flights between Beijing and Tbilisi will be performed from December 2 of this year through the city of Urumqi.
The start of direct traffic to the Chinese capital is the result of the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to the People's Republic of China, during which, among other current issues, the deepening of cooperation in the civil aviation sector was discussed.
Within the framework of the visit, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of the Air Silk Road.
According to the memorandum, the parties expressed their readiness to promote the development of the "Air Silk Road", which aims to establish air traffic corridors based on liberal principles and the two countries By strengthening cooperation between the fields of aviation.
The start of direct air traffic between the two capitals will have a positive impact on Georgia-China relations. Flights between Tbilisi and Beijing will be operated twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday.
The Civil Aviation Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia granted the operating permit to Air China today.
It should be noted that Air China entered the Georgian market in December 2024. As of today, the airline carries out flights between Tbilisi and Urumqi twice a week, and as of the 10th month of this year, it has carried 25,035 passengers.
