We are constantly trying to introduce new standards

The Association of Airports of Georgia is hosting a two-day ICAO regional workshop in Tbilisi. Up to 35 delegates from 19 countries are attending the event. General Director of the Association of Georgian Airports Levan Moseshvili addressed the participants in a welcoming speech and noted that holding an international format workshop in Tbilisi is an important opportunity for the development of the country's aviation sector and further strengthening of compliance with international standards.

"The regional office of ICAO, in collaboration with Airbus, manages for the first time an event of similar importance in Georgia, which we are the hosts of. The workshop involves the introduction of a new system for rating the rating of artificial aerodrome pavements by ICAO.

All airports of Georgia are represented here. As an ICAO member country, we are constantly trying to introduce new standards and regulations in all Georgian airports. Among them, in the Kutaisi International Airport, where the new take-off and landing The construction of the runway and related airport infrastructure is underway. After its completion, the airport will fully meet ICAO standards, recommended practices and all requirements, Levan Moseshvili said.

During two days, the participants of the meeting will discuss the 14th Annex (ICAO Annex 14) of the 1944 Chicago Convention of International Civil Aviation (ICAO). which deals with airport design and operating standards. Also, ICAO has recently introduced a new classification system for airfield artificial cover and aircraft classification, the effective implementation of which is becoming mandatory in airports around the world.

The new evaluation system allows more accurate and unified international standard to determine the effective use and loading capacity of the airport's runway, runway and apron for different types of aircraft.
