The entry of Norwegian is a historic event for Georgia
Another low-budget European airline - Norwegian is entering the Georgian air market. The second largest airline in Scandinavia will start operating on the Georgian air market from the summer of 2026.
"Norwegian's arrival is a historic event for Georgia, because so far there has been no direct flight between the capitals of the two countries," said Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioselian.
As the Deputy Minister stated, the Scandinavian countries are one of the important target markets for Georgia both in the direction of aviation and tourism.
"Direct regular air traffic between Tbilisi and Copenhagen will significantly increase connectivity, which, in turn, will have a positive impact on the attraction of tourists with purchasing power in Georgia and, accordingly, on the growth of revenues from the tourism sector," Tamar Ioseliani said.
According to the estimation of the deputy minister, Norwegian's entry into the Georgian air market La once again emphasizes the success of Georgia's aviation and tourism policy in the direction of market diversification and correct positioning of the country on international markets.
"We conducted negotiations with the Norwegian airline company, which is the second largest in the Scandinavian region, which ended with a successful result. We are glad that our cooperation continues. In addition, the National Tourism Administration of Georgia is actively working with the countries of the Scandinavian region in order to increase the number of visitors from the mentioned markets," said Tamar Ioselian.
Regular flights in the Copenhagen-Tbilisi-Copenhagen direction will be performed twice a week. It should be noted that until now there has never been a direct regular flight between the two capitals, Kutaisi International Airport connected Georgia with Copenhagen by direct air.
