The rate of local tourism has decreased

According to the data of the National Statistics Service, in the third quarter of 2025, the average monthly number of local visitors aged 15 and older in the territory of Georgia was determined as 1,375,700, and the average monthly number of visits made by them to the territory of the country amounted to 1,743,300 units.

In the mentioned period, the average monthly number of visitors decreased by 5.7 percent, and the number of visits made by them is 0.9 percent less than the indicator of the same period of the previous year.

In addition, according to Saxstat data, in the third quarter of 2025, the average monthly number of tourist-type visits made by Georgian resident visitors to the territory of Georgia was 799.9 thousand, which is 6.9 percent less than the indicator of the same period of the previous year.

The majority of visitors, 36.3 percent, belonged to the age category of 31-50 years, and the number of women was 57.8 percent of the total number of visitors.

According to the results of the survey, the visitor 38.7 percent of Ebi residents live in Tbilisi, 15.4 percent come from Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions, 9.6 percent from Ajara A/R, and the rest of the regions are represented with relatively low shares.

According to the report, the majority of visits (49.3 percent) in the third quarter of 2025 were made to visit friends/relatives.

During the reporting period, the most visits were made to Imereti region (an average of 352.3 thousand visits per month) and Tbilisi (an average of 307.0 thousand visits per month). Adjara is in third place with 263 thousand visits, Kakheti is in the top five with 143.3 thousand visits and Shida Kartli with 140.6 thousand visits.

In addition, according to Saxstat data, the volume of average monthly expenses incurred during the visits made in the third quarter of 2025 was determined at 399.5 million GEL, which is 2.8 percent less than the indicator of the same period last year. In addition, the average cost per visit decreased by 1.9 percent and equaled 229.1 GEL.
